GRAND RAPIDS, Mi. – Revive & Thrive Project has immediate openings for new clients facing a health crisis and barriers to healthy eating. The organization, founded in 2015 and modeled after the award-winning Ceres Community Project in California, provides free, nutritious, home-delivered meals for individuals with cancer, as well as those in acute phases of serious medical issues with barriers to healthy eating. As of April 2020, Revive & Thrive Project also serves individuals in at-home quarantine due to COVID-19 with symptoms.
Who – Individuals in current treatment for cancer, an acute phase (i.e. surgery, new course of treatment) of a serious medical issue such as heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, or Diabetes, or in at-home quarantine due to COVID-19 with symptoms. Individuals must be willing to eat healthy, plant-forward meals. Individuals must also have barriers to healthy eating, such as any of the following:
Exhaustion/side effects due to treatment
Lack of healthy meal support from family/friends
Financial constraints
Lack of access to healthy food
Lack of nutrition knowledge
What – 7 nutritious, home-delivered meals provided each week during treatment and recovery:
COVID-19: 2-4 weeks of meals for individuals with symptoms in at-home quarantine
Acute phase of a serious medical issue (i.e. surgery, new treatment): 6-12 weeks of meals
Cancer: 12-24 weeks of meals
Where – Meals are delivered to the homes of individuals with Grand Rapids addresses. For those living in suburbs of Grand Rapids, delivery or pick-up may be available depending on driver availability.
