Kent County Communication Action Holding Food Distribution Event Amid COVID-19 Pandemic Grand Rapids (March 25, 2020) On Thursday, March 26, 2020, the Kent County Community Action

(KCCA) will be conducting a food distribution event in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This event will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 121 Franklin SE for households with low income. To ensure the health and safety of all, recipients are asked to do the following:

enter from Jefferson Street,

remain in their vehicle, and

have their trunks open and ready to accept more than 50 pounds of food.

The Grand Rapids Police Department will be assisting with traffic control.

“This distribution is one-way KCCA is responding to this public health crisis and is helping to ensure our under- served populations have access to fresh and healthy food,” said KCCA Director Susan Cervantes. “In fact, Gov. Whitmer identified food distribution sites, such as KCCA, as essential, critical infrastructure during the response.”

This event will assist more than 900 households who are struggling to meet their food needs due to
the COVID-19 outbreak. The food packages will include fresh apples and oranges, canned vegetables and fruits, egg noodles, macaroni, pork, fish, and more.
