America’s Awesome Kids
About
America's Awesome Kids Submission Form
WGVU Public Media and GBH Kids invite kids ages 8–10 across the United States to submit a short video that shows us who you are. Share what makes you awesome… your interests, hobbies, talents, culture, traditions, family, community, local landmarks, the natural world around you, or anything else that reflects your life and experiences.
A production team in their hometown will visit selected participants for a chance to appear on PBS KIDS as part of America's 250th birthday celebration in Summer 2026.
General Information for Video Submission
Kids, ask a grown-up to help you create a video that follows these guidelines.
Length: About 2–3 minutes.
Start with an introduction:
Tell us your full name, the town and state where you live, and the name of your local PBS station (for example, "WGVU Public Media in West Michigan").
Then tell us about yourself. You might share:
- What do you like to do for fun
- Any special interests, talents, or hobbies
- Cultural customs, traditions, or foods your family enjoys
- What’s special about where you live, like local landmarks or natural features
- Something you do that helps others or supports your community
Feel free to answer any of these questions or tell us something completely different that shows who you are. Visuals that connect to your story are helpful, but not required. Parents and legal guardians, your child's video and application information will be used internally by WGVU (and GBH) solely to review the submission.
Submitting a video does not guarantee selection. If your child is chosen to take part in the project, a WGVU representative will contact you directly. Each child and their parent or legal guardian must complete and upload the Submission Release Form for the video to be reviewed.
How to Participate
- Work with the child to determine what story they want to tell.
- Plan the location, movement, props, etc.
- Using a cell phone or other device, video the child telling their story — just 2-3 minutes long.
- Complete the Submission Release Form.
- Be sure to enter YOUR Google account in the proper space. If you don’t have a Google account, you need to create one (it’s free).
- Attach your self-made video to the form where indicated (MAX 1GB).
- Click “Submit.”
