Detecting and Debunking Misinformation
Consumers of information can be overwhelmed with online content. So much so, it can be difficult filtering fact from fiction. How can you ensure the information is legitimate? The News Literacy Project offers Three practical ways to detect and debunk misinformation.
- Slow down - Seek out additional sources as you search for answers
- Remove the Frame - Try to view the content for what it is, rather than in the context set up by another user
- Check the source - If you come across an unusual or bold claim on social media, look into the account that posted the information.
