Experimental treatment life saver for Grand Rapids seven year old Midday West Michigan

Today on WGVU Midday West Michigan, a remarkable story involving a five-year old with a rare and potentially deadly kind of tumor. 

Spectrum Health assembled a team of specialists to come up with a treatment regimen.  

Two years later, Nathaniel is a happy, active seven-year-old, back in school and thriving. 

WGVU’s David Moore talks with one of his doctors, orthapaedic oncologist Matthew Steensma.  Here’s his interview…

Michigan Proposal 1 debate
  April 21, 2015  |  WGVU  In less than three weeks Michigan voters will decide if Proposal 1’s sales tax increase is the best way to fix the state’s roads and bridges. The sales tax would increase from 6 to 7-percent generating $1.3 billion dollars a year over the next 10 years. It includes raising $300 million in additional public school funding and $95 million in new revenue for local governments. Muskegon officials team up to tackle chlamydia rates
  April 14, 2015  |  WGVU  High chlamydia rates in Muskegon County have prompted officials to take certain steps. One initiative expands a partnership with Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan. WGVU recently spoke with PPWNM’s Bridget White about the response to what’s been referred to as the “chlamydia epidemic”.
