50th Anniversary of John Steinbeck Nobel Prize

October 11, 2012 | WGVU  Chinese writer Mo Yan was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature today. The 57 Mo is renowned for blending magical realism into his fiction.

50 years ago John Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for literature. Penguin books is celebrating by reissuing two of his most beloved books, "Travels with Charley: In Search of America" and "The Portable Steinbeck." Steinbeck scholar and director of the Center for Steinbeck Studies at the University of San Jose has written a new introduction to "The Portable Steinbeck." WGVU's Scott Vander Werf has this feature report...

Latest EPIC-MRA polling for Gubernatorial, Attorney General and Secretary of State races
  October 23, 2014  |  WGVU  A recent poll shows that Governor Rick Snyder has widened his lead over Democratic challenger Mark Schauer. Lansing-based EPIC-MRA conducted its statewide survey over the weekend and it shows the incumbent Republican with a 47 to 39-percetage point lead. EPIC’s Bernie Porn says - for Governor Snyder - that’s a two point increase over September’s survey results.
