New Michigan policy will strip welfare benefits if kids miss school - MIDDAY

A new state law taking effect today ties public assistance benefits to school attendance. Put simply, the law cuts off cash welfare payments if a child has more than ten unexcused absences.

Lansing-based EPIC-MRA conducted its statewide survey over the weekend and it shows the incumbent Republican with a 47 to 39-percetage point lead. EPIC’s Bernie Porn says - for Governor Snyder - that’s a two point increase over September’s survey results.
