City of Grand Rapids restricts fireworks use

June 26, 2013 | WGVU  In 2012 a new state law allowed for a fireworks free-for-all. Residents could buy commercial grade fireworks and light them off on holidays including the day before and after those holidays. Cities were denied the right to regulate. That led to citizen complaints and cities passed them along to state lawmakers who amended the law last week. That led to the City of Grand Rapids Commissioners voting to restrict holiday firework use.
