Amash amendment defeated in close vote
Patrick Center
July 25, 2013 | WGVU  The Amash amendment would put an end to the National Security Agency’s collection of billions of American’s phone records. The bid to defund the program failed last night in a close vote crossing party lines. The amendment named after U.S. Representative, Justin Amash, of Ada Township, says the NSA's authority under the Patriot Act is a clear violation of the Constitution. It sparked a debate on the House floor between civil rights and homeland security.
