New NHL drafting model suggested by GVSU researcher
Patrick Center
July 4, 2013 | WGVU  The National Hockey League held its annual player draft earlier this week in New Jersey. The team with the worst record, The Colorado Avalanche selected center Nathan MacKinnon with the first overall pick. With the 20th pick the Detroit Red Wings selected winger Anthony Mantha. While it could be a few years before fans know if their teams got it right there’s a study that says NHL franchises have a bias in the way they draft and they’ve got it all wrong.
