Teen reality check ups help teens with issues

Today’s teenagers face a lot of challenges: Peer pressure, bullying, getting along with parents.  But perhaps among the greatest is finding someone to confide in, without fear of being judged. 

A Grand Rapids pediatrician is trying to be that “someone” with his young patients.  Dr. Eugene Shatz, MD, is a specialist in adolescent medicine at Spectrum’s DeVos Childrens’ Hospital.

Today on WGVU Midday West Michigan, he tells our David Moore his goal with teen “reality check-ups”  is to help young people get out in front of issues they may be secretly struggling with.

Gifts for the Greater Good: Philanthropy in West Michigan
  April 7, 2015  |  WGVU  Mary Free Bed rehabilitation hospital has been serving west Michigan for 124 years. Located in Grand Rapids the campus provides care to children and adults experiencing brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations and many other diagnoses. As need for services increase, the not-for-profit is expanding with a new, $42 million state-of-the-art wing.
