A lot has changed in West and Southwest Michigan since December 17, 1972. This is the day when WGVU, then WGVC, first went on the air and Public Broadcasting went from a dream to reality. In the early days WGVC was only on in the evening for a few hours a day, 38 years later, there are 4 TV signals and 4 radio signals reaching from Ludington to Northern Indiana and the Lakeshore to just west of Lansing.
There are community events year round, web sites, blogs and opportunities to engage our viewers and listeners daily.
The one constant is and always will be YOU.
Public broadcasting first came into being because of the generosity of individuals that came together to raise one million dollars from donors large and small. That seed money was used to create WGVC in 1972.
Today over 17,500 individuals financially support WGVU/WGVK TV and WGVU/WGVS FM and AM.
THANK YOU for your generous support of public media in West and Southwest Michigan.
