Why Provide Philanthropic Support for Public Broadcasting and WGVU?
Your gifts are an investment in the mission of public broadcasting. We Inform, Educate and Entertain, providing inspiration for every explorer of life and citizen of our community.
WGVU-TV and PBS provide the highest quality television programming available for the entire family.
WGVU-FM Radio and NPR strive to inform our democracy and culture, by bringing important stories, insight and delight to audiences everywhere.
WGVU is the only local affiliate of PBS and NPR, with a Grand Rapids-based news team, and daily local programming and interviews. WGVU is the exclusive PBS Television Station from the Michigan border with Indiana to Ludington, from the Lakeshore to Ionia.
Leaders and citizens are rightly concerned about the state of discourse and relationships in our country. Public Radio and Television are uniquely suited to improve our public conversation. The increasing audience and influence of public broadcasting are major indicators of the desire of many to have access to this kind of communication. 170 Million Americans view or listen to public broadcasting each week.
Public Broadcasting's quality programming and creative community partnerships in education, health, social services, and the arts must expand to meet community needs.
The donor is investing their gifts where they will do incredible good, investing in results! The community outcomes of increased understanding, knowledge, education, and mutual respect are nurtured and developed through these investments.
Public Broadcasting is an urgent priority in our community, alongside issues like jobs, hunger, health, homelessness, and education. It is becoming clear that we must elevate our understanding in order to successfully improve quality of life in all those areas.
