Qualifications:
Minimum 10 hours per week, during business hours. Candidate must be organized, and possess good communication skills (verbal, written, and social media), thorough, attentive to detail, energetic, and interested in learning broadcast sales process through first-hand experience.
Internship Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Update, secure and compile e-mail databases for clients and prospects.
- Creation of sales materials.
- Process traffic orders, marketing orders, production orders, and follow each through systems, to completion.
- Accompany Business Development Coordinator on sales calls.
- Reconcile invoices to orders monthly.
- Collections.
- Cover phones during Challenge Grant Pledge programs.
- Assist with station events.
- Appointment setting.
- Appointment preparation: Identify and prepare appropriate sales materials, agenda for appointment, confirm appointment.
- Assist with creative and production of TV and radio spots.
- Assist with identification of target accounts for specific programs and campaigns.
- Appointment setting.
- File maintenance.

WGVU Marketing & Special Events Internship Opportunity
WGVU Public Media has an exciting internship opportunity to gain professional experience while expanding your resume by working alongside the Marketing Department to assist with Special Events, and Marketing duties for the station. The Marketing Internship at WGVU Public Media will be instrumental in increasing our social media presence and getting visibility for WGVU.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor and engage on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Post current station information on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Follow and list appropriate people on Twitter
- Promote PBS, NPR, and WGVU programs and events on all social media platforms

- Assist with general marketing plans and duties for station events

WGVU Web and Graphic Design Internship Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to gain professional experience while adding to your portfolio and expanding your resume. Typical work tasks assigned to the successful candidate may include general Web site maintenance (editing content, updating links, uploading PDFs and images) add/edit events on the Web site calendar, PhotoShop image and graphic creation, general Web site, video players, and social media.
WGVU Public Media is happy to work with students at the university/college level to achieve academic credit for the internship. This is an on-site opportunity with flexible hours.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Quoting and managing print jobs, as well as working with printers
- Develop concepts for and WGVU materials, including direct mail, ads, postcards, newsletters, flyers, invitations, and event signage
- Manage Web site updates while maintaining look and feel
- Minimum of 10 hours a week

Qualifications:
- An intermediate level of knowledge/education in web and/or graphic design
- Experience with web site design and updates
- Macintosh knowledge, good working knowledge of, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Dreamweaver, and experience with Microsoft Office

Development Data Coordinator
Responsibilities - Essential Functions
- Maintain the Millennium database, which includes data entry of pledges, income and any corrections/clean up necessary
- Maintain and update multiple program data base systems for member cards, Showplace, Clubhouse, etc.
- Pulls mailing/call files as needed for direct sales, telemarketing, showplace, pledges, member cards, development department, etc.
- Responsible for customer calls re: questions on their pledges, thank you gifts, member card, showplace, address changes, etc.
- Processes and reports daily financial contribution and records
- Schedules and coordinates the work of student employees
- Supervises student employees
- Maintain front desk manual, as well as documentation on all job responsibilities of that position.
- Liaison between GVSU development department, IT support staff and WGVU development department.
- Administers matching gift program/paperwork.
- Processes other reports as required.
- Solicit support for WGVU Public Media on Radio and Television.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Education
- High school graduate
- Minimum of three years related experience and/or relevant training
- Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
- Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
- Demonstrated experience to successfully use variety of computer software applications and data base management.
- Willingness to work night, weekends, some holidays and overtime hours, as needed.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy required
- Must possess exceptional customer services skills for both internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
- Some college course work
- Supervisor experience
- Familiarity with a not-for-profit fundraising environment
- Experience working in a television/radio environment
- Familiarity with development/marketing strategies.
