Kishen Newton became a volunteer for WGVU Public Media in 2011 as a member of the WGVU Engage Diversity Committee. Since then she became involved in the WGVU Engage Women and Girls Lead Initiative and other WGVU volunteer opportunities. Kishen was born and raised in Grand Rapids, and her interest in WGVU stemmed from a conversation at a community function and from that moment, you can say, the rest is history!
Kishen served as a member of the Freedom Riders Exhibit Committee under the former Diversity Committee (now known as Inclusion); worked with Women and Girls Lead (W&GL) MAKERS event; and participated in “MAB Merit Award Winning” 40th Anniversary Video; and “MAB Best Award Winning” We Are WGVU Public Media! Promotion. “I am currently active with the Inclusion Committee and working on projects to benefit our youth and our community,” says Kishen.
A mother of four beautifully gifted, talented and intelligent children, Kishen enjoys reading, traveling, and writing. A recent graduate of Cornerstone University with a Master’s in Business Leadership, she recently completed her first book. Kishen loves helping the youth and has a strong passion for young people. And her closing line is…”I have great expectations!”
