Phil Catlett, the newest member of the WGVU Staff, joined our team in mid-January. Phil has a passion for public broadcasting, based on his belief that news coverage, documentaries, education, and quality arts programming are vitally important. He spent the past 24 years in commercial radio management, and prior to that he was an account executive and a radio news/sports reporter. Phil attended Central Michigan University, where he still serves on the Broadcasting Department’s Advisory Board.
Phil and his wife Caroll (an elementary school teacher) have two married children and two grandchildren. Phil loves spending time with family, being a Big Brother, being with friends, serving on the Salvation Army Advisory and Walker Charter Academy boards, and golfing.
Phil and the WGVU team are developing major projects in order to fully realize the potential of public broadcasting. Currently he is working with staff and volunteer committees on several projects including: Michigan Hometown Stories - Saugatuck/Douglas, Women and Girls Lead, Freedom Riders, and PBS Digital Learning.
