Janet Mills has been working in downtown Grand Rapids for over 30 years. “I’ve always done some form of computer work. Just prior to WGVU, I worked 8 years at a CPA firm, running financials and tax returns on a mini mainframe.”
Janet started working at WGVU on February 1, 1988 in the Computer Department. “I’ve been involved in helping almost every department at WGVU in some way. And by doing so, I have learned a lot about WGVU’s public broadcast stations.” Along with Janet’s computer duties, she has assisted the Membership, and Traffic Department but seemed to have found her home as a part of the Engineering Department.
“To assist people, I often help with hardware problems and data solutions. As a part of the engineering department, I have had the opportunity to learn about what goes on in Master Control. WOW! look at all the pretty lights! Computer monitors EVERYWHERE. Pretty intimidating, but I enjoy learning and this was a great learning opportunity.”
“My hobby involves learning too. I study Parelli Natural Horsemanship and belong to a study group that has been together for about 10 years. I have 2 horses, 2 dogs, 4 cats and 11 peafowl on 6 acres in the country. I also enjoy cross country skiing, kayaking, and bike riding (in the summer! :-) I’m grateful to have a wonderful daughter Jennifer and 3 grandsons (Jesse, Thomas and Ryan) who live in the area.”
And to us at WGVU, Janet is known as “Computer Mom!”
