Nicholas DeVries is a Grand Valley State University student and has been an intern at WGVU for over a year now. Nick (as we know him) started as a PA (production assistant) working in TV production. He then moved on to marketing which helped him with his major, “As an intern, I love how varied the tasks are that I take on each day. Each day in the marketing department can be entirely different than the day before, which makes every hour an adventure,” Nick said.
Nick also said, “When I’m not at WGVU, I’m out doing something active. I recently completed my 4th season on GVSU’s Waterski Team, where I lead the team as president. This past year we qualified for nationals for the first time in school history, and finished 4th in the nation in Division 2.
My love for watersports doesn’t end there. I am also a member and marketing director of the Grand City Show Skiers. As a show skier, I get to perform various waterski stunts all over the state in front of large audiences.”
He will be graduating in April from Grand Valley with a B.A in Advertising and Public Relations. After graduating, he hopes to bring his advertising skills into a minor league sports program and work in sports promotion. “However, every aspect of advertising is fascinating to me, and I will not be disappointed if I get brought into a different direction within the field,” said Nick.
