DAVID MADISON
David Madison has been with WGVU for 21 years. He has worked in broadcasting all of his career with his first job as a Transmitter Engineer for WPBN in Traverse City. Following that he worked in control room operations for WWMT for ten years and came to WGVU in 1988. His first few years were in control room operations then he was promoted to Maintenance Engineer.
David’s main duties are to maintain the WGVU and WGVK television transmitters, the supporting equipment and the satellite teleport, but he can also be found working on most any piece of equipment at the station. David’s accomplishments include a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and a FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License. David notes that televison has changed a great deal since his career began. He says, "We used to have one network source and would run shows off of film and two inch video tape. Now we have several network sources, three program streams and everything runs from a server."
Outside of work, David and wife Eileen love to travel and each have many hobbies. Eileen is an avid sewer, quilter and enjoys gardening, while David enjoys woodworking and working on projects around the house.
David has three stepchildren, Laura, Carolyn and Patrick.
